Echo Charles is a media personality who has risen to fame thanks to his work as a podcaster, director, and producer. He co-hosts the Jocko podcast with friend Jocko Willink and enjoys a healthy social media following. Echo Charles is also a reference in the health and fitness spaces. 

Echo Charles Early Life

Echo Charles was born on December 3, 1977, in Kauai. His parents raised him in Hawaii, and he spent his young adult years on the islands. There is not much information available about his early years. 

What is known is that Echo Charles had a strong interest in athletics and participated heavily in sports as a boy, which is not surprising given his later trajectory. After high school, he attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he played college football.

Jocko Willink is a retired Navy SEAL officer. He received a Silver Star and a Bronze Star following his time in Iraq, where he commanded SEAL Team Three. Aside from his military experience, Jocko is an author. He has co-written several books, some of the most popular of which include “Extreme Ownership” and “The Dichotomy of Leadership.” 

Jocko Willink began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while in the service in Iraq, and he is now a black belt. Jocko seems to be the link between Echo and Echo’s many Navy SEAL friends, and he enjoys a massive social media following.

The Jocko podcast kicked off in December 2015. Jocko Willink came up with the idea for it, but he needed someone to help him get things rolling. Although Echo Charles lacked podcasting experience, he agreed to help his friend. The partnership has proven to be a good one.  

Podcasts listeners tune in to hear about various topics from each man’s expertise. In Jocko’s case, he often discusses his experience in the Iraq War and what he learned from his time as a Navy SEAL. In 2019, after many arduous years of training, he realized a dream: he earned his black belt from Jocko and Dean Lister. The moment was emotional, and he seemed surprised to achieve this goal.
